| Senior Sales Member Location: Houston, Texas, USA Registered: 02/08/01 Posts: 1978 | Thank you for your input. Having a contest will bring a lot legal problems. Yes, there are quite a few good lawyers around try to make a buck in every situation. We can of course have an unofficial contest for y'all to display your designs and innovations. At the end, give a small store credit is not a problem (it would not be an award, legally speaking). Have a great day. |
| Senior Member Member Location: Kentucky, USA Registered: 04/23/01 Posts: 369 | They say curiousity killed the cat... Glad im not a cat lol. Anyway, Jason, I know you are probably not concerned with it or maynot want to respond. But I was thinking of having a contest. Exactly what things could be done to a person or company when offering an official tournament/award/prizes, etc.

| Senior Sales Member Location: Houston, Texas, USA Registered: 02/08/01 Posts: 1978 | Ok, since now more than one voice have spoken, we are going to kick off an UNOFFICIAL contest for the coolest looking (and hopefully functional) case mod that are posted through this site. Everybody who posts will be a participant. We will give this competition (again it is unofficial)a time frame of 50 some days. So any post that is posted before Thanksgiving this year will be considered. Employees of Directron and their families will be excluded. We will then have a panel of voting by our customers to pick the winner and a runner-up. I am thinking a reward of $200 of store credit for the winner and $100 for the second place. Sounds good so far? I am open for suggestions. Jason |

| Chief Moderator Member Location: Houston, TX Registered: 02/14/01 Posts: 10157 | Generally the best paint for case mods is also the the best type used for painting / touching up a car. Everything you need should be available at your local autoparts store. note: You will need to sand most parts of your case with several levels of sand paper, and rubbing compound. This is a pain, but is important for good results. Several coats of paint / clear coat are often needed. It may take a couple weeks to get a case properly painted. Here's one mini-guide. Have a great day! |
| Senior Sales Member Location: Houston, Texas, USA Registered: 02/08/01 Posts: 1978 | Where should the contestants send in their works, this one or a new one? I start to worry the popularity of the contest because NO ONE submited anything yet. |
| Senior Member Member Location: Kentucky, USA Registered: 04/23/01 Posts: 369 | In my opinion I think they are like me. Trying to get the best one to submit. Also you might consider some sort of an unofficial announcement. 1. It would draw more potential customers. |
| Member Registered: 04/25/01 Posts: 48 | Cool Idea -- crap just too bad I have no money to mod a case with in the first place! Regards, Luke. - Doing something well is a waste of time |

| Senior Sales Member Location: Houston, Texas, USA Registered: 02/08/01 Posts: 1978 | These are some additional rules (unofficial) I would like to add: 1. For the each entry, we want you guys to submit several pics to cover each side of the computer(2 or 3 small pics will suffice). This is to ensure that everyone is showing his/her own work. 2. I forget already, what are other good rules to make this a fair and fun contest? (suggestions?) Have a great weekend and work hard on your cases. |
| Senior Member Member Location: Kentucky, USA Registered: 04/23/01 Posts: 369 | Well I just got the things I ordered from here, they seem to be in great shape as always Monday ill be picking up the rest of the supplies to fix my case. PS. Since I already have my components in my system is there a safe way of storing my mb/cpu, drives, etc. so they wont be damaged whilst i work on it?

| Member Location: no sleep till brooklyn! Registered: 10/03/01 Posts: 46 | Updates on my system: i spent seven hours painting the front panel yesterday. i painted it a custom color i call "candy competition orange pearl" its a pearlcoat candy orange (it changes color at different angles). it goes from a deep reddish orange to a bright hazard orange. I also painted the ducted cooling system in my case (which will be visible when my acrylic window is installed). my parts come wednesday, so until then, my computer work is put on hold. i will be cutting my window out with an acetylene torch (my case is made of 14-gauge steel plate), then grinding the powdercoating off and painting it the same color as the front. Unfortunately, the top part of the case doesnt remove, so it will be a ROYAL PAIN IN MY ASS to strip and paint that. since the only scanner i have is hooked up to an ISA controller, i am not able to scan my pictures until next weekend. i already took a few of the painted faceplate and my ripped-up case. anyhow, thats all the news on my end, good luck to everyone else and happy modding! |
| Senior Member Member Location: Kentucky, USA Registered: 04/23/01 Posts: 369 | I was curious. How many days I have in order to send in my pictures so they will be valid? Thanks. |
