I'm proud to announce that we are at open testing stage for a new search engine for the directron.com website. Please try the search engine at the temporary testing link below:

Directron.com Search Engine *BETA*

Core improvements:
* More accurate results
* Filtering of Products by Brand / Price Range
* Sections related to your search terms are viewable
* Price point breakdown available
* Sold Out / Discontinued Products no longer shown
* Quicksell Products now included
* Optional Sorting by Price
* Partial word match
* and much more...

Depricated Feature:
Boolean processing [boolean word term matching [-/+/AND/OR] { possibly added back later as a seperate advanced search. The new one treats spaces the same as and/+ in the old search engine. You can bypass space = plus by searching for a phrase with double quotes around it. i.e. "eee pc" and eee pc will come up with different things. }

Please leave feedback here and definately let me know if you come across any bugs and they will be promptly fixed.

Thanks for your support.

-Lee Penrod,
CTO, Directron.com

Have a great day!

I think is working great Lee, I was able to find exactly what I was looking for in a heart beat. I also like the way it shows the results, this is a huge improvement over the original search engine.

Awesome, and original. Can we filter out the descriptions to see more results on the first page?

I love it but, my search for DDR3 brings up 333MHZ memory, not DDR3.

It blows away the old search engine. Thanks again.

HMMM. The problem with searching for DDR3 is that this search engine does partial word match [pretty rare these days I think]. One way to avoid the DDR333 results is to search for "ddr3 "

The quotes and space force out the partial matches

Have a great day!

re: "Can we filter out the descriptions to see more results on the first page?"

Do you want additional ways to filter the results or just some way to hide the longer description bit and show a few more per page? For the moment it's hard set to 25 results per page [mostly because that seemed to be a good number for performance vs ease of use].

Have a great day!

Yes, I was referring to "Hide Descriptions" (text only), to show more results on first page.

We made a small modification today to enhance search results. Results should be a bit better now for not so popular items.

Have a great day!

When I search for 5780, the first hit is the HP Officejet J5780. However, when I clink on the link, it takes me back to the front page. Is this item actually available? Thank you.

Bug Fix:

Minor update / fix made to search engine. In some cases it was not showing all results when searching by a price range. The problem has been resolved.

Have a great day!
