Why does the Beige Directron 710/D30 case come with three fans for $99, but the Stealth Black 710b/D30B not come with any, for same price? The Virtual Hideout review shows fans coming with it?

All the other reviews are for the Antec's which come with three fans, both beige and charcol cases.

Because the options are different, and the case is true black. Typically black cases / components are slightly more expensive.

"Why does the Beige Directron 710/D30 case come with three fans for $99, but the Stealth Black 710b/D30B not come with any, for same price? "

" The Virtual Hideout review shows fans coming with it? "

Things change with time. You may notice also that his case came stock without a powersupply.
It became easier for us to get the case with powersupply but no fans.

" All the other reviews are for the Antec's which come with three fans, both beige and charcol cases. "

Antec does not make the case, and the D30B isn't charcoal colored. On the Antec branded ones, the fans in it were added by Antec.

Have a great day!

I realize that Antec, Enermax, Viewsonic, etc., repackage that case. I was trying to find out if it was a mistake on the webpage regarding the number of fans. I assumed that since it had an Enermax power supply and you called it 710B, that it was from Enermax. Enermax shows three fans coming with the 710, 710B and 710BB cases. The beige 710 on your page also lists 3 fans. I was curious why your 710B did not.

You list the Antec cases with 3 fans, which match the Antec site. Not that big a deal, just wondering why that one case no longer came with fans.

Also, does the color of the black ACE112D I/O front panel match the Jet Black or the Charcol Black?

Does the black 40x LiteOn CD ROM and the black NEC 1.44 floppy pulls match the stealth or the Charcol blacks?

Thank You!

Scott

I spoke with the webmaster about this to double check and it turns out I was wrong and you were correct. The black version does now come with 3 fans. The page should be fixed soon. I'm not sure exactly when the case started having fans.

Here's some pictures you might find helpful.

(comparison charcoal vs jet black)

The ACE112D I/O is black, and should match the jet black better.

The floppy might vary slightly, but both should be a better match for the jet black one.

Have a great day!

Blackness of DX01BD

Lee, the product description on the D30 web page states that the D30 is identical to the DX01BD. Does that mean that the DX01BD is also 'jet black?' If not, is the DX01BD still blacker than Antec's Charcoal black?

Thanks.

The statement about being identical refers to the design. The D30 is jet black. The Chieftec DX-01BD is charcoal black. The Antec Color and the DX color should be the same.

The Toshiba bezel is available in charcoal black. It is a replacement you can mount on a toshiba cd or dvd drive.

Also this Replacement Digital Doc 5 Bezel is available in charcoal black.

You can keep an eye out for other chieftec matching accessories in the Chieftec Matching Section of Directron's site.

bezels

for the bezels on the chieftec Matrix AMX 01BLD Entry Level Server Case can I just get the bezel, or do I have to get the optical drive with it?. it says that for "lite on" it only works for 24X10X40X, 40X12X48X CD-RW but I already have a 48x24x48 by lite on, if I can buy it separately will it fit? come with instructions on how to install it?

The bezels are in the Storage accessory section:

http://www.directron.com/accessories.html

Take a look at our bezel and compare it to the one you currently have on your drive. If the holes line up on the front then it is very likely that ours will work for you.

I haven't seen a bezel come with installation instructions.

I also haven't seen one I couldn't figure out in about 30 seconds. There are usually some tabs on the side to pop loose and the whole thing comes off.

Bezels

Just a quick word of advice. ALWAYS remember to eject a CD/DVD drive before you try to take a bezel off. I always forget that and wonder why the flipin thing wont come off. I have broken one that way to. (Luckily it was a 4x SCSI apple drive that did not work, no big deal)

In a word, CHEAP!

These cases are a dime a dozen. Heavy bastards too. NOT FOR THE LAN GOER!. If you must have a case identical to everyone elses, then at least get the aluminum one. Then you wont be rollin' a weelchair to the next lan, due to a broken back.

Oh yeah, almost forgot....

The Paint job's usually suck too. It's already ugly when you get it new, so don't waste any more money than you have to, right? So just go to the ol' hardware store and get some Krylon in a rattle-can and sling some shade of "off-black" on those drives. If they turn out looking like crap, no biggee, it'll match the rest of the case.

The obvious answer is the stealth technology used in the case construction precludes fans at the same price as non-stealth cases.

WARNING!! Stealth cases are not visible to the un-trained eye. Best locate the case in a protected location to prevent accidents. Stealth cases act as black holes, you know.
